Prospect Park, located in the heart of Brooklyn, New York, has long been rumored to be haunted by the spirits of the past. The park, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, the same team that created Central Park, was officially opened in 1867 and has since been a popular destination for both locals and tourists. The park has a rich history and it is said that the spirits of the past still roam the park to this day.

The Brooklyn Paranormal Society (BKPS) has conducted multiple investigations in the park, with their first taking place on October 6, 2015. BKPS was then a recently-founded group of individuals who set out to explore the paranormal activity of the area. Initially the group was founded to find “spirits over spirits”, but the inexperienced investigators grew to a community of over 1,200 people.

Prospect Park was chosen as a location for investigation due to its rich history. The park includes an old Quaker Cemetery, where many of the early settlers of Brooklyn are buried, and it is said that the spirits of these pioneers still roam the park to this day. The BKPS investigation will begin with drinks and a discussion about the park’s history, followed by a trek through the park with audio and visual ghost-hunting equipment provided. It is important to note that investigating with alcohol can alter perception, judgement, and negatively affect the quality of the investigation.

In addition to the Quaker Cemetery, Prospect Park also has a rich history in relation to the American Civil War. During the war, the park was used as a training ground for soldiers, and it is said that the spirits of fallen soldiers still haunt the park to this day. Furthermore, Prospect Park was also the site of several major battles during the Revolutionary War, and it is said that the spirits of fallen soldiers from that conflict also haunt the park.

In conclusion, while the existence of paranormal activity in the haunted Prospect Park has not been scientifically proven, the park has a rich history that may lend itself to such stories and legends. The Brooklyn Paranormal Society’s investigation, while not meant to be taken seriously, serves as a unique way for individuals to explore the history of the park and perhaps even catch a glimpse of the spirits that are said to still linger within it. It is important to remember that serious investigation requires rigorous methodology, scientific tools and techniques, and a sober state of mind to ensure the quality of the investigation.
